As a member of the prospering community of allergy education, I would like to properly introduce myself. I am Tiffani Pope, proud founder and voice of Nutties for a Change. Nutties for a Change is a community organization, initiating efforts in prospects of eliminating food allergy ignorance. At 13 years of age, I live with severe peanut and tree nut allergies—as well as an acute shellfish allergy. Having lived with my allergies for 11 years, I have become accustomed to the allergic-living life style. And since its establishment in February 2014, I have been privileged with various opportunities to promote allergy awareness.

I believe it is imperative that our society

becomes more educated about anaphylaxis and allergy fundamentals, as ignorance is purely dangerous. Society needs to realize the severity of allegies and their potential to take someone’s life. I strive for this awareness.

Unfortunately, I feel our society—particularly restaurants and non-allergic people—has drifted away from this concpet, simply because it does not pertain to their personal lives. However, with the prevalence of allergies, it is vital that we rekindle this understanding: and that is precisely what I strive to achieve.

I acknowledge that this journey may be quite a handful, especially considering I am only 13, but, I feel as though I am empowered enough to drive my ambitions alongside infinitive support. 

I have not yet foreseen the ultimate future of Nutties for a Change: I feel its content and growth is rightfully excelling as I mature and become more experienced. Futhermore, I hope to use the blg edition of NFAC to reflect my life as an allergic teen.

Moreover, it honors me to invite you to the beautiful, transpiring community of allergy awareness. We advocators are nothing without the support of one another, and it is compelling to see how far our team has come since the individual inaugurations of our advocacies. Indefinitely, we are reforming and burgeoning in unity. With that being said, I feel grateful to consider myself an aspect of the success of our community. I cannot wait for what the future holds for us as an online family!
